Internet Connection Counter - Keep track of various statistics, regarding your Internet connection
The more you know about your Internet connection, the better you can handle any problems you may encounter. If you do not even know what a dial-up connection is, you will not be so successful when attempting to fix an issue. Internet Connection Counter may help you in this regard. It displays many statistics regarding your connection, regardless if it is dial-up, GPRS, ADSL or others. It will also show your IP address and ports, display graphs with the reception and transmission speeds and more.
You will have to download a zipped setup file, which is less than one Mb, so it will not take long to download. To install the program, you must go through a few basic stages. It is possible to run it on any Windows version, from Win 95 to Win 7.
While the software is running, you will find a horizontal bar on your desktop. It displays a series of numbers for received and transmitted data (in Mb), how long you are connected, a summary of your traffic, the system time and more. If you have to pay for your connection, according to how long you use it, you can also find details like session, total expenses and your balance. There are no labels for these numbers, but there are tool tips available if you hover your mouse cursor over them.
Double clicking one of the numbers will execute a related task, like opening a log in a separate window, displaying speed counters for uploads and downloads, opening a help file and so on. Additional options can be found in the system tray's context menu. You can access different report files, a graph for your connection speed, a network monitor, a wizard which will help you make initial adjustments for your connection.
The software's general settings can be accessed either from the same context menu, or by clicking a button on the statistics bar. Here you will find a very broad range of options for controlling your connection, IP and LAN configurations, adjustments for the interface's display and much more.
Pros:
Internet Connection Counter offers many details and statistics about an Internet connection. Its main interface is just a horizontal bar which can be placed anywhere on the screen, so it will not hinder the user. The software comes in a small package and it can be installed in a few seconds.
Cons:
Sometimes you will have to double click the options in the system tray icon's context menu.
You can find any details you need about your Internet connection, due to Internet Connection Counter's features. Besides information, it also provides you with a very broad range of settings which will give you a better grip on how your connection works.
